Col D'Orcia - Brunello Di Montalcino
Overview:Ā Col dāOrcia literally means the hill overlooking the Orcia River. The Orcia River marks the South West border of theĀ Brunello di MontalcinoĀ territory and the name of the farm is intrinsically linked to the physical location were the vineyards are planted. It is the mission of Col dāOrcia to produce the best possible wines that the exceptional combination of soil and climate of this part of Montalcino can achieve.
Col dāOrcia is considered a ātraditionalā producer of Brunello di Montalcino for its use of aging wine in large Slavonian oak barrels and for the prolonged periods in which the wines are aged. This process ensures that Sangiovese is the true star; the backbone to the wineās structure and age-ability, rather than the oak.
Tasting Notes:Ā Pleasant fruity notes of black cherry and jam, followed by the classic hints of spices and vanilla. The profile is warm, with ripe and clear tannins. Intense and persistent, leading to a long finish.
Pairing:Ā Beef, lamb, deer
Points:Ā 94, JS
Format / ABV:Ā 750 ml / 14.5%
