Overview:Ā Darioush Khaledi was instilled at an early age with the winemaking craft of his father, inspired by wine culture in the literary city of Shiraz - in modern day Iran - and the ancient city of Persepolis. He became a lifelong collector, seeking out old world winesĀ infused with tradition and energized by modern technique.
The unique terroir of our rocky, higher-elevation Mount Veeder estate combines a cool, marine-influenced climate with exceptional sun exposure to naturally develop Cabernet Francās inherently earthbound, spice, and black fruit flavors. Typically blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to add mouthfeel, length, and herbal characteristics, 2018 Cabernet Franc is a pure, singular expression of this classic Bordeaux variety.
Tasting Notes:Ā A textbook example of the variety with elegant blueberry and black currant fruit in addition to notions of savory herbs, loam, lead pencil, and saddle leather. The tannins are ripe and fine-grained, indicative of the wines Mount Veeder origins.
