La Follette - Los Primeros - Chardonnay
Overview: La Follette winemaking is guided by the principle of sourcing fruit from the best regions and vineyards along the California Coast to create terroir-driven wines. Creating this ādialogueā with individual vineyards and long-term farmers has been the heart of our winemaking philosophy since our founding and continues today.
Made up of 100% Sonoma County Chardonnay, and named after "the first" wine growing pioneers and continues the tradition of distinctive coastal wines. 53% of this blend was fermented and aged in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation to preserve the inherent freshness of the wine while 47% was fermented in stainless and finished in a combination of new and neutral French oak with a full malolactic fermentation to enhance depth, complexity, and mouthfeel.
Tasting Notes: This Chardonnay is a beautiful straw color as soon as it hits the glass. The nose is aĀ wonderful mix of fall pears, golden delicious apple along with brighter tropical notes ofĀ coconut and pineapple. On the palate everything explodes with crunchy Asian pear,Ā ripe apricot, and fresh cucumber and creamy notes that cohesively round each sip.
