Millesimato - Cuvage Brut - Alta Langa

Millesimato - Cuvage Brut - Alta Langa

Overview: Nebbiolo d'AlbaĀ is aĀ DOCĀ encompassing a large area around the town of Alba, situated in the region ofĀ PiedmontĀ in north-westĀ Italy. Granted in 1970, the classification references the red grapeĀ NebbioloĀ from which they are made, and the area where they are produced.

Here the soils are sandier than at the vineyards of neighbors Barbaresco and Barolo. This results in wines that are softer, less intense and more approchable at an earlier age.

The wines made under this DOC label must be made from pure Nebbiolo, and the majority of wines are still and red. Additionally, this DOC's rules allows aĀ dolceĀ andĀ spumanteĀ version. Both are rarely made.

Tasting Notes: The wine has a pale straw color with matching highlights while demonstrating a very fine and persistent perlage. The nose reveals classic aromas of bread crust as well as unique mineral notes of flint. As the wine acclimates to the glass, the character of the cuvƩe emerges, conveying yellow fruit, currant, delicate wisteria, and slightly roasted hazelnuts from Piedmont. The palate is crisp, savory, with a good backbone.

Pairing: It is recommended to go against the grain with this one, combining it with main courses, preferably raw meats, tempura, seafood, and vegetables with intense flavor. White truffle and aged cheeses are always welcome. Serve at 4-6°C
