OVERVIEW

Kentucky Fried Chads are two unique Russell’s Reserve Single Barrels from It’s Bourbon Night. Both are 110-proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys that are 8 years old, and both come from Camp Nelson’s Warehouse E on the 4th floor. In fact, these two barrels were distilled just 5 days apart, but their flavor profiles have miles between them.

TASTING NOTES -  “Kentucky Fried Chads: Original Recipe”

• Nose:  You’ll find a bright, citrusy, sugar and caramel-forward nose.
• Palate:  Shows off confectioners’ sugar with a creamy texture, with maple and brown sugar coming forward.
• Finish: It is quintessential Wild Turkey in an elevated single-barrel form.

TASTING NOTES:  “Kentucky Fried Chads: Extra Crispy”

• Nose: brings big, bold spice along with a funky earthiness with notes of tobacco leaf and slight leather on the nose.
• Palate:  Less bright than “Original Recipe”, it still brings forward some brightness in the form of a mellon note on the palate, while the starring role goes to darker flavors of charred barrel oak with an almost vintage or dusty flavor profile.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

Lastly, as one tends to do when given two amazing single barrels, a 50/50 blend of both is its own animal; an encapsulation of the strong features of both that hits a beautiful sweet spot.
